Kono mune ni one more time

Once more back from Japan...and once more my heart stayed back there...I was looking forward to leaving with much anticipation throughout winter because, to me, it was a way to break a quite negative time and because it would have also marked the beginning of my beloved spring. I rejoined my Tokyo, alive, pulsating but also hypocrite and cold and I lived through it as well as I could, mostly thanks to Giulia, who never left me alone and helped me discover many things that are well within reach but still hidden to the western "illiterate". Cherry trees were spectacular, the sensations you feel standing beneath those flowers are hard to describe but, to me, it was even more fascinating to watch, from a close distance, the veneration Japanese people have for those trees and their flowers. Meeting Ben, after fourteen (!) years, was a dance in the memories but was also pleasantly discovering that time hasn't changed us that much. Furthermore my first, clumsy attempts at speaking Japanese were good enough but also injected me with even more desire and motivation to learn. I hope to go get my heart back as soon as possible...

Speechless...

Five months from my last post, I find myself speechless...I could talk about Low Light's attempts to become a real band, about my japanese improving, about my trip to Dublin and my beloved cousin, about my tennis tournaments, about me being unable to keep dieting, about Low Light's first complete gig at "La Cueva", about my trip to sunny Valencia, about my nice Christmas, about my terrible New Year's day...but all of this sounds so distant, numb, and nothing seems worth elaborating to me.

One year and a half...zipped!

Meanwhile: I started selling on eBay, another year dawned, it started raining gigs for both Moysa and Clistere al Limone, I got myself a card to play competitive tennis, they sent me to Poland for work, I joined Low light (a new alt-rock band), I went back to Japan in April (and left my heart there), I celebrated my birthday in London, I started playing tennis tournaments, I bought a Roland JUNO-G and a Delta 1010LT, I went back to Tropea for Tennis Village, I left Clistere al Limone, I started studying japanese, I relaxed and played tennis in Castel di Sangro for a week, I bought a Nikon D60. The only constants, in this year and a half without news, were work, diet and tennis.

Non so davvero come avrei fatto altrimenti...

It's been three, THREE, weeks with rain falling almost everytime...these are the moments in which I ask myself how come tennis was born in England and, nonetheless, has been considered an outdoor sport. These are also the moments in which I'm truly happy I've bought an outcourt wall, that lets me play a kind of tennis while staying indoor, in my garage. I really don't know what I'd have done without it...

Weight watcher

This has been one of those depressing weeks in which you obsessively think that you'll have to watch your weight all your life. There you are, eating yoghurt in front of the PC monitor, desperately trying to free your mind and not to think about how badly you'd want pizza for dinner, and the only thing that comes to you is the burning question: "Will I really have to do this all my life?" That is, dieting is ok, a diet comes to an end eventually but, in my case, it will never end...it's just sick that I suspended my diet during the holidays and gained eight kilos in barely a month and a half while to lose them I fought four months! So, you're tempted to screw everything, go to the bakery and eat everything you want, only to regret it and curse your willpower as soon as you go back to the tennis court or try to fit back in the trousers you bought five years ago and never worn. Only thing to do is pray for the researchers trying to discover how to accelerate the metabolic rate and, in the meantime, write a tips and tricks book to resist during a diet, as many people have suggested me to do.

Oh Japan!

Just back from Japan...astounding experience that will be told in details when Luigi publishes his day by day journal. These have been really great holidays, the Tennis Village in Tropea was fantastic and the trip to Japan has been really out of this world...for the first time in years, at the end, I really didn't want to go back. So I've already decided that I will be back there again, in Spring I hope!

Crying...

On my own" mi uccide!

I wanted to write these few lines right back from London, to recall the whole shower of emotions I had during that long weekend (June 5th-8th) there but, as usual, I drowned in all my business straight after landing. London, then...I've never been the crying type, just the opposite, sometimes I just wished I was because taking it out would have made me feel better but it rarely happened. Well I think I've never felt moved as often as in these four days! First, Manu and Chiara's wedding or "civil partnership"...I was so happy for them, impossible not to be touched! The next day, Wicked (thanks to Marco and Vale :) like in Wimbledon, they should give the stickers "I made the queue" at the Apollo Victoria, too!)...even if CJ wasn't entirely convincing as a singer and Dianne was really overacting sometimes, how do you manage to keep the tears off your eyes on "As long as you're mine" or "For good"? The peak was at Les Miserables: by Fantine's death I was already in tears, REAL tears, I mean, and I went on like that for most of the show; "On my own" theme really kills me, nothing I can do! Then no more cry, luckily, Sunday was a great sunny day and we went for a pic-nic in Finsbury Park before leaving...I think I've never seen such a day in London in all twent-ish times I went there!

Teamwork

That is to say, how to completely change behaviour when playing in a team. Anyone knowing me long enough knows that, as a volleyball player, even if I was never obsessed by victory, I've always been quite emotional on court...yells, fist pumpings, high fives, you name it, have always been part of my usual act. Since I'm playing tennis, instead, I'm the coolest person in the world, on court...I still don't like losing (who does, seriously?) but I don't show any sign of "feeling" the game...I don't exult, I don't get mad, I don't seem to feel any emotion. I used to think it was because in tennis I'm a total newbie and therefore I accept winning and losing in the same way, without losing composure...WRONG! I played doubles, some days ago, and, magically, yells, high fives and fist pumpings were back again...I figured out that, when I'm the only one responsible for the game I feel more "relaxed" while being responsible of the performance of a team makes me more tense and less "controlled". I wonder if this means being a good teamworker or else...today, at work, I started a training on team effectiveness, I'll try to figure out more on the subject!

I forgot...

OK, vi ricordate di questo post? No? Neanche io, in realta'!

OK, remember this post? No? Neither did I, honestly! In fact I forgot to say that, a year ago, I've posted on YouTube a couple videos of the "making of" that demo...here they are!
